Hive Mind: Kids Beekeeping Workshop

Join us for a fun-filled day on the farm where kids (ages 5–12) explore the world of bees, enjoy outdoor crafts, and meet some feathered friends! Activities include an up-close look inside a working beehive, beeswax candle making, pot painting, pollinator plant activities, and photos with real pollinators and chickens. Children will also enjoy a visit with our friendly farm hens during the Chicken Experience, learning about how they help in the garden.

A delicious farm-to-table lunch is included, along with bee suit rental for each child.

What age group is this workshop designed for?

This workshop is ideal for kids ages 5–12. Activities are hands-on, engaging, and age-appropriate, with staff guiding children at every step.

Is beekeeping safe for children?

Yes! Children will wear protective bee suits (suit rental included in the registration fee), and activities near the hive are supervised by experienced beekeepers to ensure safety and fun.

What should my child bring?

Please bring a refillable water bottle, a hat or sun protection, and closed-toe shoes. All workshop materials, lunch, and bee suit rentals are provided.

Can parents stay and watch?

Yes—we recommend that parents stay with their children for the duration of the event. You'll be able to enjoy the farm atmosphere, observe the activities, and share in the fun!

What happens if it rains?

Because rain can affect bee activity and outdoor fun, we do not recommend holding the workshop in wet weather. If needed, a rain date is scheduled for June 28th, and we’ll notify all participants in advance.
